E. Vernon Davis

E. Vernon Davis

Pocomoke City, MD-E. Vernon "Nip" Davis, 93, long-time resident of Pocomoke City, MD and recently of Dillsburg, PA, went to be with his Lord on February 4th. He was the second of 4 sons born to Clayton and Naomi Davis, an alumnus of Salisbury State and Western Kentucky University where he met Aubrey Mitchell, his wife of 67 years. He was a WW II Navy veteran of 9 amphibious landings in the Pacific Theater. He had a career in hardware, banking and real estate, not retiring till age 87. He and Aubrey have 2 children, Ned and wife Janet, and Jane and husband Andrew, both of Dillsburg, PA plus 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 2 more on the way. He loved his family and was loved in return.

Vernon was well known on the Lower Eastern Shore and a friend of many - a gentleman, quietly persevering, always putting others first, honest, quick with a smile and a kind word, and a good sense of humor. He finished life with a failing body but never complained and was always optimistic. He was generous, an encourager and self-sacrificing, indeed Christ-like. He never preached a sermon, but oh how he lived one. We will miss him till we meet in heaven.
