Hildreth Carolyn Stallings
SALISBURY—Hildreth Carolyn Stallings, 85, of Salisbury died Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Wicomico Nursing Home in Salisbury. She was born March 11, 1928, in Baltimore, a daughter of the late Robert Martin and Flora Gaskin Keller.
Carolyn worked in sales at BG&E and for various women's clothing shops for many years. She was an active member of Makemie Presbyterian Church in Snow Hill. She was a member of the Maryland Institute of Art and Inner Wheel, a women's group of Rotary, where she served as president and district president for a number of years. She was a much accomplished artist, specializing in rug-hooking, fabrics and wood-spinning. She was a true "people person" and a wonderful friend to many and an avid dog lover.
She is survived by her beloved husband of over 41 years, Allen D. Stallings; a son, Jeffrey Gilmore Davis (Nancy) of Olney, Md.; a son-in-law, Dennis Quigley of Venice, Fla.; five grandchildren, Jason Quigley (Tina), April Pinder (Sydney), Yancy Quigley, Aaron Scott Davis and Jaimie Davis; and eight great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Malakia, Caleb, Bailey, Sidney, Makenna, Payton and Madelyn.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cathy Ellen Quigley; and first husband, Melvin Davis, who died in combat in Vietnam in 1967.
A memorial service will be held Monday, July 8, at 11 a.m. at Makemie Memorial Presbyterian Church in Snow Hill, where family and friends may call from 10-11. The Rev. Debra Latture will officiate. Interment will follow in the Makemie Church Cemetery.
