Homer C. Gravenor
DELMAR —Homer C. Gravenor, 76, of Delmar, Del., died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Dorsey and Zillah Good Gravenor.
Mr. Gravenor served during the Korean conflict
in the U.S. Army, DMZ, unit B Troop, 9th Cav. 1st recon squad tank commander. He was a member of American Legion Post 64, VFW
Post 194 and Cross Pointe Church of the Nazarene. He worked for an outdoor advertising company. Homer owned and operated Matt Lawless Exterminators. He later became employee of the year at Maryland Medical Lab (Quest Diagnostics). He was a club member and owner of antique cars. He volunteered for numerous organizations. Homer was a much loved friend and family man. God blessed him with many gifts and talents. His positive attitude, kind and generous spirit touched many lives.
He is survived by his wife, Martha J. Luce Gravenor; five daughters, Toni A. Sizemore of Salisbury, Trudy L. Adkins of Eden, Tracy L. Horsey of Parsonsburg, Cheryl Haapala of Bethlehem, Md., and Leslie Shores of Preston; son, Terry L. Gravenor of Salisbury; three sisters, Lillian Smullen of Millsboro, Mae Robertson of Salisbury and C. Elsie Smith of Eden; a brother, Dallis Gravenor of Salisbury; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys O. Tilghman and Alice Gravenor; a brother, Carroll Gravenor; and a grandson, Homer Patrick Turner.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 2, at 1 p.m. at Holloway Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 and on Wednesday one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Ronald Parker will officiate. Interment will be in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.
