James P. Deehan
Salisbury—James P. Deehan, 87, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013, at his home in Mallard Landing in Salisbury, Maryland with family present. Born on December 27, 1925 in New York he was the son of the late John and Mary Deehan, both of whom were born in Ireland.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years, Eileen K. Deehan and both parents.
Besides Brooklyn, NY, he resided in Maywood, Fair Haven, Lincroft and Pompton Plains, New Jersey; Three Rivers, Michigan; Calabash, North Carolina; Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and most recently Salisbury, Maryland at Mallard Landing.
After serving in the Navy, he graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Business. He worked for over 30 years as a General Traffic Manager at Union Camp Corporation in Wayne, New Jersey. During his lifetime the things he loved most were spending time with his family and friends. Jim was an avid fan of his NY Giants, golf, the beach, traveling and all things Irish! He was always involved in his children's sports and Boy Scout activities, his church as Eucharistic Minister of the sick and member of the K of C for over 50 yrs. He was also a devoted fan, along with his wife, of all his grandchildren's activities. Jim was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury. He loved to landscape and enjoyed a yard filled with color and birds. He always enjoyed drives in the country and finding a new and different route back home. Thankfully, his wife was a master map reader! Jim was infamous for his extensive hat collection and was always a snazzy dresser.
He is survived by five children: Kevin Deehan and his wife Susan of Salisbury, Maryland and their children Shawn, Matt, and Kelly; Peter Deehan and his wife Dawn of Waikoloa, Hawaii and their children, Brandon and Kyle and his spouse Malea and their children Keanu and Layla; Tim Deehan and his wife Susan of McLean, Virginia and their children Christina, Jacqueline and her partner Angie, Ryan, Stephen and Kayla; Mary Beth McDonough and her husband Dave of Long Valley, New Jersey and their children Danny and Sara; and Eileen Deehan of Hawi, Hawaii; his sister Pat McCarthy and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 11 am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the mass at the church. A Memorial Mass will also be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 11 am at St. Luke Church, Long Valley, NJ.
