Ret. Master Sgt. James Benson Hall
Crisfield-James Benson "Jimmie" Hall, 76, of Crisfield, died peacefully surrounded by his family, January 12, 2014 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake.
Born on November 30, 1936, he was the son of the late Benson and Hazel Howard Hall.
Jimmie graduated from Crisfield High School in 1955 and joined the United States Air Force
. He retired from the Air Force in 1975 after 20 years of service. He was stationed in the Far East and Vietnam most of his career and received many outstanding awards and medals.
After retiring from the Air Force, he was Manager of the Crisfield Marina for a couple of years. During his time at the Crisfield Marina, he decided he wanted to start his own business at the Small Boat Harbor named Hall's Marine. Jimmie could do anything and was known for getting things done.
In 1979, The Mud, Sweat, and Tears 4-Wheel Drive Club of Crisfield was formed, and he loved racing his 1956 Dodge Truck, Old Grand Dad in the mud races. Later on, he started restoring old cars and traveled as far as Florida to car shows in his 1936 Dodge. He won many trophies and was even featured in magazines.
Jimmie was also active at the First Baptist Church in Crisfield for 24 years where he loved helping with Thanksgiving meals and the Soup Ministry. He was also a caregiver to Elaine Hoffman of Crisfield, loved people, and had a big heart for those who were hurting and in need.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Mary Riggin Hall; a son, James "Jamie" Hall, Jr.; two daughters, Bonnie Justice and her husband Ralph of Crisfield, and Lisa Hall of Eden; one granddaughter, Kylie Ann of Eden; three grandsons, Ryan Sterling (Christie), Matt Sterling (Chasity), and Chris Justice (Elizabeth); three great-grandsons, Matthew, Micah, and Caleb Sterling; a special niece, Lynette Lau that was part of his family growing up; a brother-in-law, Bubby Riggin (Ruby); and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield, where a viewing will be held from 12-2 p.m.Pastors Matt Sterling and Jack "Tad" Maroon will officiate. Interment with full military honors will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
