James Andrew Houck
Delmar-James Andrew Houck, 76, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late John Banks Houck Sr. and Olive Unity (Hickman) Houck.
Jim was a 1955 graduate of Wicomico Senior High School and a member of Salisbury Elks Lodge
817. He started his career as an accountant with Dulaney and Sons Inc. food processors in Fruitland, then went to work for Granger and Faw, known today as Faw Casson. In 1972 he began his own accounting practice where he and his wife, Pat, worked side by side until 2013. He also served in the National Guard.
Jim married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Jean Taylor, in May 1958. She preceded him in death by 18 days, passing on Feb. 8, 2014.
He is survived by his daughter, Annette Houck-Bounds, and her husband, Wallace M. Bounds II, of Frederick, Md.; two brothers, George K. Houck Sr. and his wife, Alice Lee, of Pittsville and David R. Houck Sr. of Parsonsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Shirley LaFond, and a brother, John B. Houck Jr.
A combined memorial service will be held Thursday, March 6, at 1 p.m. at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will follow at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury with the Rev. Thomas C. Bunting officiating.
