Joan E. Bell
CRISFIELD-Joan E. Bell, 67, of Crisfield and formerly of Smith Island, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
Born on Smith Island, Oct. 25, 1945, she was a daughter of Elaine Townsend Marsh of Crisfield and the late Grayden Miles Marsh, Sr. Her former husband, George Allan Bell, Sr. preceded her in death Jan. 5, 2000.
A graduate of Wor-Wic Community College, she and her former husband owned and operated the former Bell's ARCO gas station in Salisbury. She also worked at Rubberset Corporation in Crisfield.
She was a member of the Crisfield Elks Lodge
#1044 in Crisfield and was past-president of the Ladies Auxiliary. She also was a former member of the Salisbury Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and Calvary United Methodist Church on Rhodes Point, Smith Island.
A devoted and loving mother, grandmother and sister, she loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren in later years. In her earlier years, she enjoyed traveling.
In addition to her mother, Elaine Townsend Marsh, she is survived by two sons, Allan Duane Bell and wife Elaine of Parsonsburg and George Allan Bell, Jr. and wife Jessica of Shelltown; five grandchildren, Bonnie Bell Sizer, George Allan Bell, III., Allan Duane "A.J." Bell, Jr., Brittany Bell, and Jenna Bell; a great-granddaughter, Danielle Sizer; her sisters and brother, Sylvia Nock and husband Preston of Bowie, Md., Karen Dize and husband Rukie of Fruitland, Grayden Marsh, Jr. and wife Millie, and Lisa Evans and husband Eddie of Ewell, Smith Island; her aunt, Ruth Donoway of Salisbury; her special companion, Carlton Windsor of Crisfield; her special friends, Tammy and Charles Bradshaw and Linnea Harris, all of Crisfield; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral in Crisfield, where a viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m. Pastor Jim Evans will officiate. Interment will follow in Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.
