Laurence O. Schrawder

Ocean City-Laurence O. Schrawder, age 81, passed away Wednesday May 28, 2014, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Thomas Frederick Schrawder and Viola Mary Charlton Schrawder. He is survived by his wife Patricia Matthews Schrawder and a son Laurence Thomas Schrawder and his wife Debbie of Berlin. Also surviving is a sister Sally Rhodes and her husband Blaine of Palm City, FL.

Mr. Schrawder had worked with the Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania for 30 years, and was the owner operator of L&L Marine in West Ocean City, having worked in the marine electronics business since the late 70's. He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran serving 1950-1952 during the Korean conflict. Mr. Schrawder was a member of the Marine Corps Band based in Quantico, VA where he played the trumpet, an instrument he had played since the age of ten. He was Past Chairman of the Worcester County Republican Central Committee, member of the Bristol Masonic Lodge #25 in Bristol, PA, the Ocean City and Salisbury Chapters of the Scottish Rite, and the Boumi Temple in Baltimore. He was also a Synepuxent Rod and Gun Club, the Ocean City Marlin Club and the Telephone Pioneers. Mr. Schrawder was a Boy Scout Leader of Troop 554 in Philadelphia. He had many passions. In his younger years he enjoyed riding motorcycles and endurance runs. He loved baseball and was an Orioles fan, enjoyed fishing, and loved music.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. Rev. Robert Miller will officiate. Friends may call on Sunday from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Burbage Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Berlin.
