Mary Ann (Dashiell) Baker

SALISBURY—Mary Ann was born in Mount Vernon, Md., and was the daughter of Margie Larmore Dashiell and William Dale Dashiell, Jr. She passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013.

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and a former member of The Friendship Class, the United Woman's Association and the First Maryland Bancorp Alumni Club.

For many years she volunteered for the Heart Fund, the Cancer Fund and was actively involved in many other organizations concerning church and school activities.

While living in Mount Vernon, she worked as Deputy Clerk for the Clerk of Court of Somerset County, Benjamin L. Barnes.

She substitute taught at Princess Anne Elementary School and Greenwood Elementary School.

After moving to Salisbury, she was a legal secretary for Porter, Cullen Clark & White. She retired from First National Bank of Maryland as a Personal Banking Officer.

She is predeceased by her husband, Robert Charles Baker, Sr.

She is survived by her two beloved sons, Robert C. Baker, Jr. and his wife, Paula, and Joseph D. Baker and his wife, Janice. Grandson, Paul Baker; stepgrandson, Chris Clifton, and his wife, Holly; two great-grandchildren, Rayna and Ross; her sister, Margaret Slaughter and her brother, Walter Dashiell and his wife, Bonnie. She had many nieces and nephews and one who was of special importance to her Michelle Dashiell.

At her request, there will be no formal memorial service. Her body was donated to the Maryland Anatomy Board for medical education and research. A family service will be held at a later date.

Contributions may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund or John Wesley United Methodist Church, both of Mount Vernon.
