Melva White Fowler
Ocean City, MD—Melva White Fowler, 69, of here, departed this life on Sunday, October 7, 2012, in Burlington, NJ. Born in Whaleyville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Raymond C. and Avalone P. White.
She graduated from Delaware State University with a Bachelor of Art's Degree in Education.
She taught in the public schools of Akron, OH, Baltimore County, Prince George's County, and Willingboro, NJ over a span of 38 years.
Melva was a member of New Bethel United Methodist Church in Berlin, MD and the Delta Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Loving memories will be cherished by: her husband, Calvin B. Fowler, Sr. of Ocean City, MD; two sons, Calvin B. Fowler, Jr. and Guy P. Fowler, both of Burlington, NJ; three brothers, Kenneth (Patricia) White of Charlotte, NC, Ronald (Yvette) White of Upper Marlboro, MD and Vaughn (Shirley) White of Ocean Pines, MD; two sisters, Shirley (Jesse) Dale of Ocean Pines, MD and Sharon Showell of Fruitland, MD; four grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday from 6 to 8 PM at New Bethel United Methodist Church in Berlin, MD. Ceremonial rites will begin at 6:30 PM by the Delta Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. A celebration of Melva's life will be held Saturday at 2 PM at the church. Interment will be held Monday at 1 PM in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery - Eastern Shore in Hurlock, MD. A ministry of comfort and dignity is being provided by Lewis N.
