Monica Chevelle Jones
Salisbury-Monica Chevelle' Jones(48) was born on August 18, 1965 in Salisbury, Maryland to Evelyn M. Jones, Mother, of Salisbury, MD and the Late Nathaniel C. Jones, Sr.
Monica was called home to be with The Lord on May 1, 2014 at 4:55 pm in Peninsula Regional Medical Center after a 14 year long battle with Breast Cancer
. She passed in the comforting presence of her mother, sister, brother, aunt and uncle by her side.
Monica was also known as "Sister Sledge." "MJ." or Mont and she was truly an "Angel on Earth" because she helped so many people and dedicated her life to helping others and touched so many peoples' lives.
Monica attended Parkside High School and graduated in 1983. She then went to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore for one year and thereafter Woodbridge Business Institute where she graduated with a certificate and honors.
Monica had several jobs during her lifetime. She worked at Perdue Administration Offices, Campbell's Soup Inc., Maid Services in Ocean City, Shoney's Restaurant, Field's Containers and Peninsula Regional Medical Center in the Food/ Dietary Services Dept. where she worked for 15 years. Monica was a very hard and dedicated worker and she received numerous awards and plaques for her outstanding work performance.
Monica was known as a fighter and she fought a good fight all the way to the end. She was so brave and courageous throughout her illness. She was always so "full of life," positive, energetic, enthusiastic and had a great sense of humor. She exemplified bravery, courage and hope, determination and a strong will to live. She was a "beam of light," an encourager, and always had a big smile on her face !! She always had something good to say to someone despite what she was going through !!!
Monica had a strong faith and a strong will to love regardless of all the chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgeries, medication and continuous oxygen therapy and she was determined to endure. She was saved, read her bible often, attended church and talked to God daily on a regular basis.
Monica was a member of the Elk's Home Success Temple I.B.P.O.E and she volunteered there and at several other organizations ie VFW
and American Legion.
Monica enjoyed dancing, going out with her friends, listening to music, watching TV, reading books, watching movies, doing crossword puzzles, and most important spending time with her family and loved ones especially her mother, sister, nieces, cousins and friends. Monica enjoyed living and she enjoyed life to the fullest.
Monica was a loving dedicated daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, granddaughter and true friend.
Monica was preceded in death by her father, Nathaniel C. Jones, grandparents, Hortense Jones and Edwards (Dimples) Jones, grandfather, Jack Johnson, Aunts Mary Johnson and Nellie Purnell.
Monica leaves to cherish her loving memories: Her dear mother, Evelyn Jones, a dear sister, Dr. Natalie C Jones of Utica NY, a dear brother, Nathaniel C Jones (Nate), 3 half sisters, Tonya Collick, Dede Mcglotten, Buffy Gordon and Tracy Hutt, One half brother, Eric Sessoms, 3 dear nieces, Alexis Jones, Samantha Stancu and Sofia Stancu, 2 nephews, Nathaniel Jones III and Brian Jones, her partner and significant other, Kenneth Wigfall, 5 special cousins, Bianca Giddens, Cheryl and Wayne Warton, Dean Morris, Daryl Johnson, special aunts, Lucille Moore, Barbara Johnson, Joyce Martin, Brenda Martin, as well as a Special Uncle, Charles Johnson and a host of many other uncles, aunts, cousins and special friends all whom she cherished.
Monica will forever be loved, missed and remembered. She will be celebrated for her amazing life she lived and the brave, courageous fight that she fought !!!!

The viewing will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 6 to 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Saturday May 10, 2014 at New Dimensions Ministries Church, Bishop Reverend Abbott. Burial will be held at Green Acres, 1618 West Road, Salisbury, MD.
