Pauline M. Swift
WESTOVER—Pauline M. Swift, 81, of Westover, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at the home of her daughter in Salisbury.
Born in Andrews, Maryland on January 12, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Samuel M. and Nellie G. Slacum Insley. Her husband, William Russell Swift, preceded her in death on April 30, 1978.
She was a retired cook at McCready Hospital in Crisfield and was a caregiver for many years. She was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church, and enjoyed gardening, bargain hunting at yard sales and flea markets, and traveling to Norfolk to visit her sister. She loved to cook, especially pies, and she loved and took great pride in her home. She loved having visitors and was very blessed to have been able to stay there until the last few weeks of her life. Most of all, she was happiest when she was with her family. She was a loving and devoted mother who always put her children first. She always kept them near to her by finding various things for them to help her with.
She is survived by three devoted children, Jerry Lee Swift and wife Hilda, Wayne Swift and wife Valerie, all of Crisfield, and Phyllis Richardson and husband Eric of Salisbury; her sister, Myrtle Dorman of Norfolk; three brothers, Robert Insley and Samuel Insley and wife Shirley, all of Crisfield, and Walton Insley of Marion; four grandchildren, Russell Swift and wife Stacey and Heather Duncan and husband Darrick, all of Crisfield, Kristen Moody and husband John of Hebron, and Lisa Nolan and husband David of Ocean City; nine great-grandchildren; a special niece, Jimmie Rae Hancock of Salisbury; special friends, Miriam King of Arizona, Barb Morgan of Marion and Frances Windsor of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her twin great-great-granddaughters, and a sister, Ruth Hancock.
