Richard J. Holt

MILLSBORO — Richard "Rich" James Holt, 74, of Millsboro passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at the Berlin Nursing Home. He was a loving father with a big heart. Rich was born March 2, 1938, in Holt's Landing, Dagsboro. He graduated from Lord Baltimore High School in Ocean View.

Rich enjoyed watching and playing sports. He played the saxophone in his band the Slick Chicks. He was an avid boat racer. Rich was a member of the Army Reserves and Honor Guard and a member of the Seaford Volunteer Fire Company. He spent most of his career in the furniture industry as a sales rep and as owner of Payless Furniture. He was a lifelong Lions Club member, former president of the Indian River Lions Club and zone chairman. He was an active member in several area Chambers of Commerce. Rich never met a stranger and was always ready to tell a story or joke.

He is survived by his son, Richard Holt II and his wife, Vicky, and their son, Richard Holt III, all of Camden, Tenn.; his daughter, Audrey Harkins and her husband, David, and their sons, David and Connor, all of Salisbury; and a sister, Rachel Townsend Doughty and husband, Ken, of Sandy Landing, Del.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services at 43 Thatcher Street in Frankford, where friends may call Friday evening from 6-8. Burial will be in St. George's Cemetery in Clarksville.
