Robert "Bobby" L. Collins
SALISBURY — Robert "Bobby" L. Collins, 78, of Salisbury died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born in Laurel, Del., he was the son of the late Herman Collins and Alberta Smack Collins.
Along with his wife, Bobby was the owner of Collins Furniture for over 70 years. More recently you could find him at his son-in-law's business, Fat Boys Crabs. He enjoyed spending time there socializing and meeting new people. Bobby was a USTA member since 1963. He drove hundreds of races at standardbred tracks across the country. Two of the great horses he drove were Royal Bill and Royal Del. He was a standardbred owner until his death. He was a member of the East Side Men's Club/Eagles for more than 60 years.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen L. Collins; two daughters, Diane Brown and Debbie Leath and her husband, Bobby; three grandchildren, Cory Huston, April Lokey and Aaron Tingle; three great-grandchildren, Chase Moor, Brandon Lokey and Ellie Tingle; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sylvia Johnson.
A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury. The Rev. Lou Bradley will officiate.
