Robert Lee Shockley, Sr.

Snow Hill—Robert Lee Shockley, Sr., (Rob, Bob), 73 of Scotland Road in Snow Hill, died Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Snow Hill, he was the son of the late Rev. Clifton and Mildred (Duffy) Shockley, Sr.

He retired after more than 38 years from the former E.S. Adkins Company in Salisbury. Upon his retirement, he worked as a self-employed home improvement contractor.

He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church in Snow Hill.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Edith Foreman Shockley; seven children: Marsheila Shockley of Salisbury; Ronnie (Audrey) Shockley, Sr. of Berlin; Franzella, Janice, Robert, Jr. (Lena) and Royce Shockley and Kendall Carter, all of Snow Hill; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters: Clifton, Jr. (Jeanette) and Ira "Buck" (Darlene) Shockley, all of Snow Hill; Lola Shockley of Powellville, Edna (John, Sr.) Everett of Pittsville and Doris Parker of Parsonsburg; three brothers-in-law and eight nephews and four nieces.

Two great-grandchildren: NyShae Taylor and Emaiah Shockley preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Snow Hill High School, 305 S. Church Street, Snow Hill where friends may call one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Mt. Wesley U.M. Church Cemetery, Mt. Wesley Road, Snow Hill.
