William James Ingraham

NEWARK, Md-William James Ingraham, 84, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at his home in Newark. He was born December 10, 1928.

Bill was born and grew up in Chicago, Ill. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1945 at age 17 and served in World War II. He was discharged in 1953 after serving 8 years. He began work for B & D Woodworks in Carroll County, Md. as a cabinet maker where he worked until he became a Maryland State Game Warden in 1962. His Maryland Department of Natural Resource Police career began in Anne Arundel County and he then served in Worcester County until he retired in 1986.

Bill enjoyed a long life spent in the outdoors hunting and fishing with family and friends. His love of family, nature and woodworking were constants throughout his life. Bill was proud of his military service and his commendation from the State for his outstanding performance. His handcrafted furniture and woodworking creations are treasured by many fortunate recipients. Bill enjoyed gathering with family and friends often for fishing, hunting and boating trips, feasts of local fare, poker nights, and many special occasions and holidays. He was an avid reader and backyard birdwatcher, a regular to the county libraries and to feed stores on behalf of his avian neighbors! Bill will be dearly missed by his family. His cherished memory and love of the outdoors lives on in his family every day.

Bill is survived by his sons William B. Ingraham (and spouse Liz Davis) Berlin; Tim Ingraham West Ocean City; Earl Ingraham Bishopville, Md.; daughter Linda Rodgers (and spouse Robert) Delray Beach, Fla; former spouse, Ina Ingraham, Snow Hill; sister Dagmar Bucolt (and spouse Charles) of Milwuakee, Wis., and several nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his niece Elaine Stambaugh.
