Alfred P. Krest

SALISBURY-Alfred P. Krest, 93, of Salisbury passed away Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake. Born on Feb. 22, 1920, in Norfolk, Va., he was the son of the late Alfred B. and Nellie Krest.

Mr. Krest was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II. He worked for over 60 years in the aviation field, working for many different companies including: Pratt and Whitney, Flight Enterprises, Bradley Flying Service, Sam Goldman, Wayne Pump, Preston Hearl, Bayland Aviation, Henson Aviation, Piedmont Airlines, U.S. Airways and W. Virginia Air Center.

On July 13, 1957, he married the love of his life, Alice E. Krest, and they have been married for over 56 years. Together they had four children, Alan Scott Krest, Christopher Alan Krest, Teri Marie Krest and Tracy Krest Duquette. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kelly Nicole Garnett (Krest) and Samuel George Leo Alfred Duquette; great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Cole and Andrew; and a sister and brother, Irene Virginia DeWees and Marcus Bohrer Krest. He also leaves to cherish his memory the Phipps family, who he considered his own children and grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 12:30 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church on Philip Morris Drive in Salisbury, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Entombment will be private at Springhill Memory Gardens.
