EDEN — Anthony "Tony" Lamont Watson, 47, of here died Monday, July 2, 2012, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Salisbury, he was a son of Lewis N. Harmon and the Rev. Lottie May (the Rev. Alvin) Watson Harmon, both of Salisbury.
He attended Parkside High School and First Baptist Church.
Anthony will be remembered for singing tenor with the Watson Four Gospel Singers for many years, and more recently, singing with the Unity Gospel Singers.
He was employed by the In-House Insulation Co.
In addition to his parents, cherished memories will remain with his wife, Shirley M. Watson of Eden; a son, Joshua Watson of Snow Hill; two brothers, the Rev. Dr. Lewis N. (Talana D.) Watson and Minister Charles E. (Crystal) Corbin Jr., both of Salisbury; four sisters, Carolyn P. Watson-Pruitt of Bladensburg, Md., Rita R. Watson of Salisbury, Keshia A. Smith and Juanita Harmon, both of Yonkers, N.Y.; a mother-in-law, Novella M. Burton of Allen; three stepchildren, Benjamin Cox of Allen, Novella M. Burton and Shirley L. Burton, both of Salisbury; three stepgrandchildren; a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, in-laws and friends. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, James and Thelma Harmon; maternal grandparents, the Rev. Samuel and Mildred Watson; an uncle, John Watson; and an aunt, Virginia Watson Gray.
He will lie in repose Sunday from 3-4 p.m. at Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home PA, 1618 West Road, Salisbury. A private memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. He will also lie in repose Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 11 a.m. to noon at First Baptist Church at the corner of 528 Booth Street and Delaware Avenue in Salisbury. As a tribute to his life, a musical celebration will begin at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will begin at noon Monday. Interment will be in Green Acres Memorial Park Inc. on West Road in Salisbury.
