Arthur Emmanuel Pitts

Berlin—Arthur Emmanuel Pitts, 96, of here, departed this life on Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at his residence. Born in Chester, PA, he was the son of the late William and Emma Pierce Pitts. He has also been preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Eleanor Pitts.

He served in the United States Army during World War II.

He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church in Berlin. Mr. Pitts was also a member of the American Legion Duncan Showell Post #231.

Prior to retiring, he was employed as a carpenter by the Town of Ocean City.

Loving memories will be cherished by: two daughters, Victoria (fiancé', Anthony Hunter) Clarke of Annapolis and Audrey Legg of Berlin; one niece; two nephews; one great-niece; three grandchildren; and a host of cousins, other relatives, in-laws and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by: five brothers, George Johnson, George Pierce, Clarence Pitts, Harry Pitts, and John Pitts; one sister, Mabel Pitts; and one niece, Margaret Naomi Purnell.

Mr. Pitts will lie in repose on Saturday, from 12 to 1 PM, at St. John United Methodist Church in the Sinepuxent area of Berlin. The funeral service will begin at 1 PM. Interment will be in St. Paul's Church Cemetery in Berlin.
