SEAFORD — Barbara E. Rider, 71, of Seaford, formerly of Delmar, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford.
She was born Aug. 19, 1941, in Laurel, a daughter of the late Charles and Irma (Niblett) Elliott.
Barbara graduated from Delmar High School with the class of 1959. After leaving Delmar in her early 20s, she lived with her husband and family for many years in New Jersey, including periods of residence in Illinois, Maryland, Germany, Venezuela and London in connection with her husband's education and military and business assignments. She eventually returned to Delaware in 1996 after retirement. She was proud to be a homemaker and also of her work as a secretary and office manager for a number of years after her children were raised. She loved playing cards and especially enjoyed playing with her bridge group. She enjoyed doing crafts, computer games, shopping and antiquing. Barbara was truly a people person who loved to socialize and have a good time with family and friends. Her positive attitude remained, despite her recent health issues, and her family is grateful for that.
