SALISBURY — Betty Lee Tingle Todd, 82, of Salisbury passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born in Salisbury on June 23, 1929, she was the daughter of the late D. Garland Tingle and Nettie V. Tingle. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Adah T. Fields and Grace T. Boole; and three brothers, William F. Tingle, David "Bus" Tingle and Donald R. Tingle Sr.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert Millard Todd Sr.; two sons, Robert M. Todd Jr. and his wife, Joy, of Springfield, Tenn., and Blair L. Todd and his wife, Cindy, of Parsonsburg; five grandchildren, Reanna L. Todd and Sierra D. Todd, both of Tennessee, Megan Davis and Don Beideman, both of Salisbury, and Maribeth B. Shoun of Virginia; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Jaime, Caylee and Josie.
She graduated from Wicomico High School in 1946 and began her employment with Standard Oil Co. of New Jersey, both in Salisbury and later in Baltimore. Returning from Baltimore in her later years, she worked for the Wicomico County Welfare Board and St. Peter's Episcopal Church as parish secretary, retiring from there in 1984. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church most of her life except for 16 years in Ocean City, when she was a member of Atlantic United Methodist Church. She transferred her membership back to Trinity upon returning to live in Salisbury. Once a month, the ladies of the 1946 graduating class would gather for food and fellowship, and she so enjoyed being with them. She loved her church, her family, relatives, friends and her home.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Holloway Funeral Home, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury, with Rev. William Kniceley officiating.
