SALISBURY —Brooke Lauren Shockley, 14, of Salisbury passed away Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, after an inspirational battle with osteosarcoma, bone cancer.
She is survived by her mother, Tammy West, and her father, Shane West; sister, Logan, and brother, Jordan; great-grandparents, Robert and Evelyn Taylor; grandparents, Ed and Peggy ("meme") Shockley and Leslie Hammell; uncles and aunts, Eddie Shockley and Ina Shavel, Todd and Angel Krebs, Denise West and Randy and Angela Holland; eight cousins, Taylor and Keegan Shockley, Mackenzie and Kayleigh Krebs, Jonathan Wheeler, Ashley and Brittany Davis and Randy Holland; and her best friend, Lindsay Benzin.
Brooke was extremely blessed with a loving church family, "The Uprising." In addition, during their long journey, Brooke and her mother acquired many new supportive friends in Baltimore as well as the Seeley family.
Brooke was last a student at Wicomico Middle School. Her interests included band, soccer, photography, arts and crafts, shopping, music, songwriting and church youth group.
Per Brooke's request, please refrain from wearing black at the service. Brooke loved bright colors; she thought they were cheerful and that's how she wanted to be celebrated. The service will be held Tuesday at The Uprising/St. Pauls Church in Hebron. The service will be officiated by Pastor Bill Cropper. Visitation begins at 11 a.m., followed by the service at noon. Interment will follow in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.
Contributions may be mailed in care of The Uprising Church to Uprising/St. Pauls Church, PO Box 29, Hebron, Md. 21830, in order to defer costs for the family.
