OCEAN PINES — Carl Johnson 82, died peacefully in his sleep at home Wednesday, Aug 29, 2012. Born in Worcester, Mass., in 1930, he was the son of the late Carl E. and Priscilla Williams Johnson.
In 1933, he moved with his parents to his grandparents' farm in Exeter, N.H. He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy, the University of New Hampshire and the Air Force Institute of Technology.
In 1953, he married Barbara Eichel.
He served in the Air Force, and worked in industry and government to develop nuclear power for space vehicles and to regulate the safety of commercial nuclear power plants.
In 1995, he and his wife, Barbara, moved to Ocean Pines.
Survivors include his beloved family, wife, Barbara; sons, Eric and wife, Suzanne, of Bowie, Md., Tom and wife, Karen, of Ellicott City, Md., and Russell of Gaithersburg, Md.; and four beautiful grandchildren, Kevin and Sarah Johnson of Bowie, and Erin and Natalie Johnson of Ellicott City.
His family conveys their heartfelt thanks to his caregivers for their extraordinary skills and compassion.
Friends may call at his home in Ocean Pines on Sunday from 2-5 p.m.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at his son Tom's home Sunday, Sept. 9, from 2-5 p.m.
