Houston—Charles Raymond Weitzel, 59, of Houston, TX and formerly of Salisbury, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2013 at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born of Salisbury, he was the son of Naomi Larmore Weitzel of Mount Vernon and the late Gordon Melvin Weitzel, Sr. of Baltimore.
"Chuck" worked at Powell Motor Company of Salisbury, the First National Bank of Maryland and was part owner of Weitzel's Restaurant in Ocean City. Until his death he was owner and Vice-President of Free Lighting Corporation and spent much of his time traveling between Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Texas. During is his time on the Eastern Shore, Chuck was a member, and eventually served as President of the Optimist Club of Salisbury. Although he only indulged in his hobbies with moderation, he enjoyed golfing, fishing and perhaps most of all, working in the yard on his John Deere tractor.
He is survived by his wife, Deanna Lynn Stone Weitzel; a son, Charles Ryan Weitzel and a daughter, Leah Marie Weitzel, all of Houston, TX; a brother, Gordon M. Weitzel, Jr. of Salisbury; and two sisters, Charlotte Weitzel Esteves of Kingsville, TX and Brenda Alice Weitzel and husband, Najeh A. Fauz of Houston, TX.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 1st, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury with visitation one hour prior to the service. Reverend Glenn Catley will officiate. Entombment will follow at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.
