Salisbury—Cynthia Accella Barkley, 72, of here, departed this life on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Wenona, she was the daughter of the late James Jones, Sr. and Delima J. Jones. Her husband, Charles B. Barkley, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Barkley was a member of First Baptist Church of Salisbury where she served as a member of the Soup Kitchen Ministry.
Prior to retiring, she was employed by Salisbury University as a Cook.
Loving memories will be cherished by: one son, Cedric (Kimberly) Barkley of Norfolk, VA; two daughters, Lisa (Dr. Mark) Bowen of Salisbury and April (Dr. Derrick) Briddell of Zebulon, NC; one stepdaughter, Felecia White of Salisbury; one brother, James Jones, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA; one sister, Sandra Mason of Philadelphia, PA; one aunt, Clara Walker; in-laws, Peter (Alveta) Davis, Sr. of Fruitland, Francis Burke of Salisbury, Curtis (Lillie Mae) Johnson of Salisbury, Marion (Clara) Barkley of Eden, Maggie Dorman of Allen, Geneva Barkley of Salisbury, Johnny Fluellen of Philadelphia, PA; six grandchildren, Ashley (Jamaal) Teagle of Waldorf, Erica Bishop of Durham, NC, Brittanie Johnson and Seth Barkley, both of Norfolk, VA, and Makenzie and Madison Briddell, both of Zebulon, NC; one great-grandchild, Kadis Johnson of Norfolk, VA; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other in-laws, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Beverly Barkley and one sister, Rita Fluellen.
Mrs. Barkley will lie in repose on Friday, July 5, 2013, from 6 to 8 PM at Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home, PA located on 1618 West Road in Salisbury and Saturday, July 6, 2013, from 11 AM to 12 PM at First Baptist Church located on 528 Booth Street and Delaware Avenue in Salisbury. The funeral service will begin at 12 PM. Rev. Dr. Lewis N. Watson will be the Officiating Pastor. Interment will be in Green Acres Memorial Park, Inc. located on West Road in Salisbury.
