Delmar, Maryland-David Wayne Cullen, 65, and his wife, Laura Lee Menzel Cullen, 61, of Delmar, Maryland, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014 following a fire at their residence.
David was born in Crisfield on December 22, 1948. He was a son of the late Joseph Bell Cullen and Jewell Ennis Cullen. He was a self-employed carpenter who was a history buff and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Laura was born in Salisbury on September 17, 1952. She was a daughter of the late George Menzel and Hazel Massey Robertson. Most recently, she worked at Ocean Downs and prior at the Harrison Group. She enjoyed watching old movies, sewing, cooking and trying new recipes.
David and Laura are survived by two daughters, Michelle Cullen Miller and her husband Randy Miller, Sr. of Whaleyville, and Angela Cullen-Cathell and her husband Kevin Cathell of Delmar, Delaware; three grandchildren, Amber Marie Miller and her fiancé Jeremy Brantner, Randy Lee Miller, Jr., and Savannah Brooke Cathell; a great-granddaughter, Memphis Brantner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
David is also survived by three sisters, Gladys Justice, Virginia Swift and Iva Marshall, all of Crisfield. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Hokie Cullen, William Cullen, and Joe Cullen, Jr.; and three sisters, Nina Brittingham, Jewell Ann "Lou-Lou" Cullen, and Mary Ellen Dize.
Laura is also survived by her oldest daughter, Melissa Esley-Collins and her husband, Chris Collins, and son, Chris Collins, Jr. of Marion Station; three sisters, Helen Jane Pusey of Eden, Sue Ann Ashley of Ashville, NC, and Linda Maddox of Jefferson, MD.
A memorial service officiated by Rev. Randy McDorman will be held Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior. Urn interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.
