Laurel—Dianne Alice Lynch Thompson, 71, of Laurel, Delaware, passed away on January 23, 2013 in Seaford, De. A visitation will be held at Laurel Fire Hall on Sunday, January 27 from 1-3:00 pm, A funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Ruth Tull of Christ United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be held privately.
Dianne was born in Laurel, De to Flossie Mae and Vinol L.Lynch on March 2, 1941. She graduated from Laurel High School Class of 1959. She went on the earn a bachelors degree in elementary education from Salisbury State Teachers College. She loved and truly enjoyed teaching first grade at West Laurel/Paul Lawrence Dunbar Elementary School, where she touched the lives of countless children for 40 years. She was a member of the Red Hat Lunch Bunch, Delaware ADK, Laurel Lioness Club, Laurel New Century Club, and Christ United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, shopping, and spending time with her family and seven grandchildren. Dianne is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry M. Thompson, her parents, Flossie and Vinol Lynch, her brother and sister in law, Richard and Alma Lou Lynch.
Dianne is survived by her son, Phillip Thompson, and his wife Janiene Thompson, grandchildren, Allyson Thompson, Brandon Thompson, Christopher Thompson, Alex Phippin, and Justin Phippin. Her daughter, Amy Hudson, and her husband Seth Hudson, grandchildren, Sadie Hudson, Maura Hudson, brother and sister in law Ronald and Elaine Lynch, brother and sister in law Jack and Carole Lynch, sister and brother in law Joyce Stewart and Jim Rowe, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews from the Sirman and Lynch sides of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her memory to the Laurel Public Library 101 East 4th Street Laurel, DE 19956 or the Laurel Fire Department 205 West 10th Street Laurel, DE 19956.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital ICU Unit, the Laurel Fire Department first responders, Holly and Ed Hannigan, Pastor Ralph Fraser, as well as all the friends and family members that have reached out and extended thoughts and prayers during this time. The family asks that you celebrate the life of Dianne because it was truly a life worth celebrating.
