Elisha "Peanut" Tingle

GUMBORO—Elisha "Peanut" Tingle, 86, of Gumboro passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, July 19, 2013, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. Mr. Tingle was born on April 22, 1927, in Gumboro, son of the late Elisha and Bessie Mae (Evans) Tingle.
"Peanut" was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a poultry farmer in Gumboro and enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting. "Peanut" was a member of the Gumboro Wesleyan Church and was previously a member of the Moose Lodge in Salisbury and the Gideons in Millsboro.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Lillian "Linnie" (Savage) Tingle; a son, Mike Tingle and his wife, Elaine, of Laurel, Del.; a daughter, Pattie Tingle of Pittsville; and two grandchildren, Shawn Tingle and his wife, Katie, of Seaford and Jenna Conaway and her husband, Greg, of Shortly.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, at the Gumboro Wesleyan Church, 36842 Millsboro Hwy., Millsboro. Pastor David Souder will officiate. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Peanut's name to the Gumboro Wesleyan Church, 36842 Millsboro Hwy., Millsboro, DE 19966.
