SALISBURY — Ernest A. Purnell had his sunrise June 24, 1935. He lived a full and happy 77 years. Ernest had his sunset Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at home with his wife and friends at his side.
Ernest received his formal education at the former Salisbury High School, Class of 1953. After graduation, Ernest enlisted in the U.S Navy.
As a great provider, Ernest worked 36 years at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. He retired as a supervisor in environmental services. He loved his family and enjoyed the company of his friends. Ernest loved sports, especially basketball. He also enjoyed television (smile).
Cherishing his memory is his wife, Trauffine, of 36 years; two sons, Donel and Ulyssess of Salisbury; two granddaughters, Christina Stanford and Breanna Hearne both of Salisbury; three great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Audrey Palmer; three brothers-in-law, Augustus Thomas and Nathaniel Palmer, both of Salisbury, and Terry Fisher of Virginia; three sisters-in-law, Clydine Chaney and Virgie Cropper of Salisbury and Sylvia Debose of Wilmington; and a host of other family and friends.
