SALISBURY — Helen W. Calloway, 91, of Salisbury, and formerly of Delmar, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012.

She was born Aug. 24, 1921, in Millsboro, a daughter of the late Harry R. Ward and Lulu Elliott Beach.

Helen proudly owned and operated Helen's Beauty Shop in Delmar for more than 25 years. She was a longtime, active member of First Baptist Church of Delmar, where she sang in the choir and was a Sunday school teacher. She devoted her life to her church and her family. Helen kept an immaculate home and loved working in her yard. She was an avid pet lover and had a special bond with her dog, Lady. In her younger days, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Delmar.

She is survived by a sister, Florence McGee and her husband, Ralph, of Delmar; three nephews, David Lee Jones and his wife, Sharon, of Laurel, Stephen A. Jones and his wife, Sue Ann, of Chesterfield, Va., and Robert L. Jones and his companion, David, of Raleigh, N.C.; and 13 great-nieces and -nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion H. Calloway Jr; and a sister, Dorothy F. Lord.

A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where family and friends may call from 10-11 a.m. The Rev. Ruth Chamberlain will officiate. Interment will follow the services in St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar.
