Sharptown-John W. Davis, 72, of Sharptown passed away at his home Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014. Born in Chester, Pa., he was the son of the late Frank E. Davis and Ada Nichols Davis.
John was retired from working at Walmart in Salisbury in the Lawn and Garden Department. He had a sweet kind spirit, and never met a stranger. He loved going to church, listening to the wonderful music at the Gospel Café and going to the "Open Mike" on Friday nights. He loved eating out, and his favorite food was chocolate ice cream. He was a member of Victory Tabernacle Church in Laurel and Compassionate Sheperd Ministries in Seaford.
John is survived by his wife, Doris Hastings-Davis; daughter, Sara Holland and her husband, William; grandson, Chris Wolfe and his wife, Cheril; great-grandchildren Stephanie, Cassandra, Jessica and Michael; his brother, Melvin Davis, and sister, Erma Smith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Isabelle Davis; brothers Paul Davis, Frank Davis, Donald Davis and a sister, Anna Lee Williams.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Victory Tabernacle Church, 28261 Seaford Road, Laurel, Del. 19956 at 2 p.m. A viewing will be held from 1-2 p.m. at the church. Pastor Stacey Johnson and the Rev. Robert Douglas will officiate. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
