June MacBayne Brown Obituary
June MacBayne Jacobs Brown

Ocean Pines—June MacBayne Jacobs Brown, age 85, passed away at her home in Ocean Pines on February 13, 2013, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her five children: Denise Brown of Dallas, Texas, Lynne Brown of Dayton, Ohio, Susan Norland of Falls Church, Virginia, Neil Brown of Berlin, Maryland, and Carol Erbach of Henderson, Nevada; eleven grandchildren: Jennifer and Chris Brown, Ryan and Eric Schweller, Paul, Timothy, and Anne Norland, Jessica, Nathan, and Matthew Erbach, and Olivia Brown; and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 59 years, Earle W. Brown, her brother, Paul MacBayne Jacobs, and granddaughter, Elizabeth Carol.

June was born in Washington, D.C. on July 24, 1927, to Paul MacBayne and Rosa Kalousdian Jacobs. She graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She earned her BS degree in Biology and taught science for many years. In college, she met Earle W. Brown from Hagerstown, Maryland, and they married on September 6, 1947. Earle's career as an officer in the U.S. Army took them around the world from Texas to Minnesota, to Washington, DC, Atlanta, GA, Okinawa, Japan, New York City, Orleans, France, Heidelberg, Germany, and San Antonio, Texas. They settled in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1970, where she worked at Culler Junior High School and the University of Nebraska's Office of Financial Aid. June and Earle retired to Ocean Pines, in Berlin, Maryland, in 1992. June was a formidable Bridge player, an enthusiastic dancer with the Pine Tappers, a regular member of Mumford's Landing Pool Aquatic Women, and an active member of the local P.E.O. She loved to entertain, and Earle called her "the hostess with the mostest."

A memorial service will be held at Taylorville United Methodist Church, 11252 Adkins Road, Berlin, MD, 21811, on Monday, February 18, at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury MD 21804 or Taylorville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 456, Berlin, MD. 21811. June will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery with Earle at a future date. Arrangements are in the care of the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.
