Selbyville—L. Ogden "Oggie" Wise, III, age 71, of Selbyville, DE went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 after a long illness. Oggie was born May 2, 1941 in New Castle, DE and was the son of the late L. Ogden Wise Jr. and Gwendolyn (Steele) Wise.
Oggie graduated from P.S. DuPont High School in 1959 and in 1962 joined the Marine Corps where he spent four years on active duty. In 1968, he returned to Delaware to begin working for George & Lynch Inc. of Dover and worked his way up to become Vice President of Asphalt Paving Operations. While working for George & Lynch, Oggie was a member of and served as Vice President and later President of the Delaware Asphalt Paving Association. He was also a member of the National Asphalt Paving Association and represented Delaware on the association's Board of Directors for nine years.
Oggie leaves behind his lovely wife Renda J. Wise, who was truly devoted to him. He is also survived by two children; a son, Christopher and his wife Lauren of Tuscaloosa, AL; a daughter, Kimberley Jensen and her husband Drew of Easton, MD; a brother, Rick and his wife Gail of Williamsburg, VA; four grandchildren, Timothy, Matthew and Evelyn Jensen and Kayne Wise; his aunt, Mrs. Richmond Steele of Dover; two cousins in New Castle and many nephews, nieces, dear in laws and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 4 at 2 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church in Selbyville with Rev. Dr. James Van Der Wall officiating. Friends may call on Monday, December 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville. Burial will be in Redmen's Memorial Cemetery in Dagsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 410, Selbyville, Delaware 19975.
