M. Louise Lippold Crum, "Weeby"

BERLIN, MD-M. Louise Lippold Crum, "Weeby", 88, died on October 9, 2013, in Berlin, MD. She would have celebrated her 89th birthday on October 19th. Louise was the last surviving member of her generation in both the Lippold and Crum families. She was born on October 19, 1924.

Louise was predeceased by her parents, Louis William Lippold and Catherine M. Schelhaus Lippold, of Cumberland; by her brother, William Louis Lippold of Toledo, OH; and her two sisters, Elizabeth A. Lippold Chaney and Jeanne M. Lippold Crum, both of Cumberland. Her husband, J. William Crum died in 1996.

Louise was a 30-year-plus member of the Jersey Blue Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution New Brunswick, New Jersey Chapter. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 4425. Also, Louise belonged to St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Ocean Pines, MD.

After graduating from Ursuline Academy and Catherman's Business College, Louise spent several years as a secretary in Washington, DC. She later returned to Cumberland with the opening of Allegany Ballistic Laboratory (ABL). She remained with the company for many years until her marriage and subsequent move to New Jersey.

Louise retired from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ after 12 years while working in the Dean of Students Office.

After their retirements, Louise and Bill moved to Barefoot Bay, FL where they were active members of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church.

In later years, after the death of her husband, Louise once again returned to the Cumberland area to be closer to her family.

Upon the death of her sister, Jeanne, in 2006, Louise moved to Ocean Pines, MD, where she remained for the rest of her life.

She is survived by her loving niece, Carol Withers, and her husband, Dale, and their two daughters, Elizabeth (Libby) and Catherine (Katie). Carol had been Louise's caregiver for the last several years.

In addition, Louise is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families, who fondly referred to her as "Weeby." The family offered its support through personal visits, phone calls, prayers, and cards during her hospital stays.

Friends and family will be received at The Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Monday, October 14 from 4 - 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday October 15th at 10 a.m. at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 125 Fayette Street, on Tuesday, October 15 with internment immediately following the Mass at the church cemetery.

Louise has requested memorial donations be made to The . Weeby was very supportive of the Cancer Awareness Fund Raiser " Pamper For Charity" sponsored by A Perfect Face Day Spa {12638 Ocean Gateway, #6, Ocean City, MD 21842} which Carol has set up during the month of October in memory now of the three sisters: Elizabeth (Libbett), Louise (Weeby) and Jeanne ( :0). All proceeds will be counted toward the fund raiser event.
