Marjorie Southard Gerhardt

SALISBURY — Marjorie Southard Gerhardt, 88, of Salisbury passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at the Wicomico Nursing Home. Born in Baltimore on Oct. 24, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Harry D. Southard and Anna Mae Browning Southard.

She worked as a bookkeeper for a restaurant in Wilmington for 20 years before retiring. During her earlier years, she enjoyed supporting her children in their school activities. She loved cooking and spending time with friends and family.

She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Brown, and her husband, Bob, of Salisbury; nine grandchildren, Julie B. Myers, Robert F. Brown Jr., Susan B. Mills, Teresa Klizanowiez, Christina Chesner, Sheila G. Betts, Angela G. Von Den Bosch, Gary Alan Gerhardt and Jennifer Gerhardt; 16 great-grandchildren; and two nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Aleta G. Bailey; a son, Ralph M. Gerhardt Jr. and a brother, Duane Southard.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m. at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be hel Friday, Jan. 18, at 1 p.m. at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium, Md. Her grandson, Pastor Robert F. Brown Jr., will officiate.

Contributions in her memory may be made to Wicomico Nursing Home, 900 Booth St., Salisbury, Md. 21801.
