Nancy Elizabeth Colburn

Quantico-Nancy Elizabeth Colburn, 63 of Quantico, passed away Monday, October 21, 2013 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Md. She was born in Warren Ohio and the daughter of the late Fred and Lucille VanAuker.

Nancy was a life time member of the Federalsburg VFW post 5246 and her many passions in life included Quilt making, dress making and charity. Nancy was an accomplished sailor and teacher, achieving her captain's license; she worked to educate women through Womanship of Annapolis. As an Equine Trigger Point Myo-Therapist she enjoyed many years working with horses throughout the east coast. Her compassionate and caring nature will carry on through the many people that have touched her life and the love that was so freely given. Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, grand-mother, sister and friend.

She is survived by her husband Ernie Colburn, sons Christopher and Douglas, daughter Jennifer, step-daughter Patricia Raye, sister Carol Zembower, brother Bobby VanAuker and nine beloved grand-children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 11 am at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Child Fund International, P.O. Box 26507, Richmond, Virginia 23261-6507. Mrs. Colburn, for many years, has sponsored children in Bolivia and Equador.
