Phillip Miller Obituary
Phillip Kramer Miller

SALISBURY-Phillip Kramer Miller, 72, of Salisbury passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Johns Hopkins Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Philip was born in Washington on Sept. 15, 1940, to the late Herbert and Ethel Miller. After graduating from Southern High School in Baltimore, he proudly served four years in the United States Air Force, before earning an Associate's Degree in electronics. Known affectionately to coworkers as "Woodstock," Phil was an electronics technician for 23 years at NOAA on Wallops Island, Va., retiring from the Federal Government in 1997.

Combining his love of the outdoors and photography, Phil devoted much of his time to photographing wildlife, from Kodiak bears in Alaska, to Puffins and lighthouses in Maine, to the boats and waterfowl of his beloved Eastern Shore. Later, Phil turned his passion into a career, creating Shore Shots Photography and becoming a much-loved local wedding photographer.

In addition to his work, Phil was a tireless community volunteer. He served as a Life Crisis Hotline operator in Manassas, Va., a distinguished volunteer for the Wicomico County Department of Social Services, and logged over one thousand service hours at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. He was also a member of Elks Lodge 817 and a longtime, active member of Beth Israel Congregation.

Phil leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Arlene Miller; and three daughters, Shari Silbert, and Jaimi Hall (Keith) of Salisbury, and Randi Sonenshine (Marty) of Georgia. He was an adoring Pop-Pop to six grandchildren, Jessica, Hannah, and Rachel Silbert, and Sadie Hall, all of Salisbury, and Jacob and Ethan Sonenshine of Georgia. He is also survived by brother-in-law Melvin Gerber and his late wife Karen; and sister-in-law Marilyn Krinsky and her husband Michael, all of Baltimore. He was loving uncle to Edward Gerber, Jill Katz, and Jeffrey Gerber. He will also be missed by his devoted pets Ping, Harry, Obie, and Kaci.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Holloway Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Beth Israel Congregation, 600 Camden Avenue, Salisbury, Md 21801.

Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, P.A., 501 Snow Hill Rd., Salisbury, Md. 21804. Please visit www.hollowayfh.com to express condolences.
