TYASKIN — Richard L. Patterson Sr., 78, of Tyaskin died Monday, June 25, 2012, at Salisbury Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Salisbury, he was a son of the late Harry and Irene Carver Patterson.
Richard was a self-employed farmer and a former bus operator for Wicomico County schools. He was an avid hunter with a special interest in waterfowl.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harry, Adolfus and Donald; a sister, Doris; and a nephew, William F. Patterson Jr.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Betty Marie Patterson; three sons, Michael R. Patterson of Hagerstown, David R.(Sherry) Patterson and Richard L. Patterson Jr., all of Tyaskin. He is also survived by two sisters, Betty Jean Davis and Thelma Hopkins of Salisbury; a brother, William F. (Becky) Patterson of Hebron; a sister-in-law, Elaine H. Patterson of Delmar; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Following cremation, a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation, 1301 York Road, 404 Lutherville, Md. 21093. Arrangements are in the care of Messick Funeral Home on Nanticoke Road in Bivalve.
