Bishop Ronald Roston U. Williams

SALISBURY — Bishop Ronald Roston U. Williams, 71, of Marquis Avenue died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Marion, he was the son of the late Sewell and India (Whittington) Williams.

He was a graduate of the former Carter G. Woodson High School in Crisfield. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1959 serving during the Vietnam Conflict and received an honorable discharge as a sergeant in 1969. Upon his discharge, he attended a college in North Carolina.

Bishop Williams was employed for 25 years with the V.A. Medical Center in Richmond as a radiologic technologist; was president/owner/operator of a cleaning service; director of a residential home in Richmond; and former pastor of Spirit of Truth Ministries in Richmond for 20 years, where he was consecrated Bishop.

He relocated to Salisbury in 2005, transferring his membership to New Dimensions Ministry where he served as elder, on the prison ministry, intercessory prayer ministry and as a Bible study teacher.

His survivors include his devoted wife, Victoria; two daughters, Denise (Kevin, Sr.) Meade of Richmond and Anna (Nick) Thomas of North Carolina; two stepsons and one stepdaughter, Vince of Savannah, Ga., and Victor Edwards of Hazelton, Pa., and Kristina Porter of Salisbury; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Paige of Crisfield; two godchildren; a devoted niece, Franessa Smith; and a host of other nieces and nephews.

A sister, Mattie Bernice Bivens, died in February 2010.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Dimensions Ministry, 1907 Jersey Road, Salisbury, where friends may call two hours prior to service. Interment will be in the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock.

Services are entrusted to Jolley Memorial Chapel in Salisbury.
