SALISBURY-Velma Lee Burks, affectionately known as "Duckbutter," was born to the late Clarence Burks, Sr. and Verlene Burks on Jan. 3, 1946, in Memphis, Tenn. She departed this life on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.

She attended Holy Temple Church of God In Christ, in Salisbury, under the leadership of Bishop James L. Eure, Jr.

Loving memories will be cherished by: four children, Bernadette Everett of Baltimore, Bennic Beasley and Starr Everett, both of Salisbury, and Terrance Everett of Newark, N.J.; two sisters, Darlene (James) Brown of Salisbury and Min. Dorothy Burks of Delmar, Del.; four brothers, Adv. Presiding Elder Leon (Bathsheba) Burks of Salisbury, Clarence Burks of Newark, N.J., Sam Burks of Trenton, N.J., and Antonio Kimber of Camden, N.J.; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Bernard V. Everett; and two brothers, Charles Allen and Edward Burks.

Mrs. Burks will lie in repose on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home, PA located on 1618 West Road in Salisbury. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Bishop James L. Eure, Jr. will be the Officiant. Disposition will be private. Please visit to offer condolences to the family.
