Doris Jean Wolf Ardis

Pocomoke City-Doris Jean Ardis, 90, of Pocomoke City passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at her home. Born in Bryn Mawr, Pa., on Feb. 14, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Charles A. Wolf and Elsie Mae Moore Wolf of Ardmore, Pa.

Doris graduated in 1942 from Lower Merion High School in Ardmore. She and her late husband, Ralph, who died in 2012, were married in Yeadon, Pa., on Feb. 14, 1944. They moved to Pocomoke City in 1946, where they had resided ever since.

A member of Salem United Methodist Church, Doris was a part of their choir for many years. She worked as a teacher's assistant in the Worcester County school system, retiring in 1997.

She is survived by three children, Bettina L. Ardis-Brunelleschi and her husband, Filippo, of Rome, Italy, Donald R. Ardis of Timonium, Md., and Lisa G. Ardis and her husband, David F. Bundick, of Modest Town, Va.; four grandchildren, Cristina E. Brunelleschi of Rome, Italy, Julie A. Quinn and her husband, Randy, of Finksburg, Md., Gian Brunelleschi and his wife, Desi, of Munich, Germany, and David Brunelleschi of Rome, Italy; three stepgrandchildren, Nathan Bundick of Modest Town, Seth Bundick of Woodbridge, Va., and Miriam Bundick Cornwell of Onancock; eight great-grandchildren, Flavio and Tiziano Franzin of Rome, Italy, Zachary, Joshua and Kelsey Ann Quinn of Finksburg, Megan, Samuele and Melissa Brunelleschi of Munich, Germany; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Ian and Sean Bundick of Woodbridge; as well as three sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by five brothers and three sisters.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m. at the Salem United Methodist Church, Second and Walnut streets, Pocomoke City, MD 21851, where family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the Remson Methodist Cemetery on Sheephouse Road in Pocomoke City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Salem United Methodist Music Fund, P.O. Box 145, Pocomoke City, MD 21851, in Doris' memory.
