Laurel-Paul Hayward Harper Jr., 58, passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at his home. Born Dec. 11, 1955, in Alexandra, Va., he was the son of the late Paul H. Harper Sr. of Frankford and the son of Barbara Harper Rust and Melvin Rust of Frankford, mother-in-law Mildred Steen of Laurel.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Brenda Steen Harper; a daughter, Wendi Wingate and her husband, Seth Wingate, and a son, Travis Walls, and his wife, Sara Walls; his four grandchildren, Connor Wingate, Camryn Wingate and Hanna Walls and Zachary Walls; three siblings, two sisters, Terri Miles and husband, Don, and Kelly Anderson and a brother, Kent Harper, and companion, Lisa Travalini, all of Frankford. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.
Paul was a 1973 graduate of Indian River High School. He was formerly employed at Invista/DuPont Co. in Seaford. He was a school bus contractor for the Laurel School District as well as a poultry farmer. He attended Central Worship Center in Laurel and St. Georges Church in Ocean View. Paul enjoyed camping and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at the Laurel Fire Department Banquet Hall, 205 W. 10th St., Laurel, on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 1 p.m., where a viewing will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The Rev. Tim Dukes will officiate. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel.
