Mattie Marie Johnson

Salisbury-Mattie (Mattiree) Marie Johnson, 70 of Delmar, DE, died Wednesday, February 19 2014 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Littleton and Mattie (Nixon) Hayward.

She was a 1962 graduate of the former Somerset High School in Princess Anne.

She was formerly employed with the former Campbell Soup Co., Inc. She retired in 1988 from Home Health Company out of Baltimore, MD.

She was a founding member of United Faith Church of Deliverance in Salisbury where she served as a Missionary and Intercessory Prayer Warrior. She was a former member of the Usher Board, Kitchen Committee and Pastor's Aide. She was also a member and active secretary of Abundant Life W.O.T.M. (non-profit) for nearly twenty years.

Her survivors include six children: Oscar Melvin (Melissa), Johnson, Jr, Charlene (Wayne) Spence, all of Salisbury, Allisa (David, Jr.)Williams of Quantico, MD, Anthony (Audra) Johnson of Upper Marlboro, MD, Janine Johnson-Alvi of Delmar, DE and Kevin (Aisha) Johnson of Apex, NC; three stepchildren: Darryl Hutt of Virginia Beach, VA, LaSharel Johnson of Willingboro, NJ and Brandon Johnson of Topeka, KS; twenty-nine grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, five siblings: James (Mary) Hayward, Mary (Archie) Jones, Frances (Benjamin) McBride, Phyllis (Vernon) McBride and Leon (Geraldine) Hayward; three godchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

A daughter Deedra Yvette Johnson preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 28, 2014 at United Faith Church of Deliverance, 1808 Jersey Road, Salisbury, where friends may call Thursday from 6-8:30 p.m. and again on Friday, one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron, MD.
