Salisbury-James (JD) Gordy, died Saturday, March 1, 2014.
James (JD) Gordy was born in Fruitland, MD. He joined the US Navy in 1959 and was honorably retired in 1977 as a Chief Petty Officer (E-7). He then went to work for the Department of Defense and where he served another 30 years and retired as a GS-14 in the civil service.
He is survived by his wife, Roxanne, his daughter Melody (Gordy) Guthrie, his son-in-law, Russell Guthrie, daughter Lisa (Gordy) Singhammer, his granddaughter, Jamie Guthrie, and his grandson, Michael Marshall.
Jim was gregarious, caring, and outgoing, he willingly gave his time, talent and compassion to everyone he met. He wanted to be remembered as a man that always tried to do the best he could every day.
A small family service will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the cemetery in Hebron for inurnment. A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Thursday, March 6th at 2:00 PM. Please contact the family for details. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either Habitat for Humanity, 121 Habitat Street, Americus, GA 31709-3498 or Coastal Hospice and Palliative Care, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802. Arrangements are in the care of Bounds Funeral Home.
