Eva L. Burton

Crisfield-Eva L. Burton, 95, of Crisfield died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.

Born in Crisfield on Sept. 27, 1918, she was a daughter of the late George F. "Duffy" and Hattie A. Daugherty Lawson. Her husband, Marion L. Burton, died Sept. 23, 1982.

A homemaker, Mrs. Burton was a graduate of Crisfield High School, Class of 1935. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, sang duets with her sister when she was small, and played Carillion Bells. She loved gardening, playing checkers and singing with the Sweet Adalines. She also had a great sense of humor.

She is survived by four children, Judy Wysong of Cottonwood, Ariz., Sally Tyler of Crisfield, Jeff Burton and wife, Jo, of Washington state, and Wendy Hildreth of Salisbury; five grandchildren, Rick Tyler, Toni Baker, Mark Chambers, Sean Thomas and Diane Hartley; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter due in May; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two grandsons, David and Daryl Wormington; and her brothers and sisters, Tom Rupert Lawson, Leo Lawson, Ada Lee Hardester, Winnie L. Tyler, Sally Ann Wilson and Bernetta L. Howard.

A memorial service will be held Monday, March 10, at 7 p.m. at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield, where friends may call 30 minutes prior. Pastor Steve Willing will officiate.
