Mary Louise Bunting Shay

Pocomoke City, MD-Mary Louise Bunting Shay, 91, of Pocomoke City, died on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Hartley Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Pocomoke City, MD.

Born September 3, 1922 in Temperanceville, VA , she was a daughter of the late George Edward Bunting and the late Mary Elizabeth Mason Bunting and the widow of the late Clifton Lee Shay, whom she married on Jan. 20, 1946.

She was a graduate of Temperanceville High School (Class of 1939) and attended Goldey- Beacom and Washington colleges, after which she was employed by Hallwood National Bank, as the assistant cashier.

She was a member of Lynnhaven Baptist Church and the Esther Sunday School Class, a member of the Worcester County Farm Bureau and a past president of the Women's Committee. Mrs. Shay was a retired partner and the secretary/ treasurer of the family owned, New Church Farmers Supply, Inc., which was a private agency of Southern States Co-Op.

She is survived by one son, Donald Clifton Shay and his wife Deborah Campbell Shay; two grandsons, Dwight Clifton Shay and his wife Jody Smack Shay of Pocomoke City and Donald Christopher Shay and his wife Courtney Lee Shay of Mcleansville, NC; two great grandsons, Hunter Clifton Shay and Campbell Wyatt Shay; two step great granddaughters, Alyssa Linton and Brianna Linton; three nieces and three nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, George Dewey Bunting, Otho Preston Bunting and Fred Roland Bunting and a nephew, who was raised as a brother, Rodney Preston Bunting.

A funeral service officiated by Rev. Kerry Hinton and Rev. Oren Perdue will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 11 AM in the Lynnnhaven Baptist Church, 1200 Lynnhaven Drive, Pocomoke City, MD 21851, where family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Downing Cemetery in Oak Hall, VA.
