Salisbury-Dorothy ("Dolly") Paris Moon, 92, of Salisbury, died on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at her home. Born in Kansas City, KS, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Bess Paris of Dermott, AR.
Mrs. Moon received her R.N. degree from Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. Shortly after graduation she and her twin sister, "Polly," joined the Army Nurse Corps and served 2 years in England and France with the 55th General Hospital during WWII. After returning to the U.S., she married Tom Moon and they raised a family in Rockville and later Salisbury, MD. In 1991 she was honored by The Women In Military Service For America Memorial Foundation for "her dedication, service and sacrifice in the defense of the United States of America". After 34 years of service, she retired in 2002 from the Wicomico County Board of Education where she worked as a Health Education and School Nurse at Westside and Pemberton Elementary Schools.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Moon, Jr.; two children, Rosemary Moon Macintire and Fred Thomas Moon and her twin sister, Rosemary ("Polly") Paris Smith.
Dorothy is survived by her two children, Douglas B. Moon and his husband Robert Tomlin of Houston, TX and Judy Moon and her husband Allan Brown of Alexandria, VA; three grandchildren, Mark Macintire and his wife Michele, Thomas Moon-Brown and Ella Moon-Brown; and three great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Rosemary and Rory Macintire.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Wicomico Memorial Park. Rev. Harvey Dixon will officiate. The family asks that you honor her memory her by wearing the Spring colors she loved so much at the service. Let us celebrate her long, vibrant life by defying the darkness. Friends may call at her home after the service.
