Fruitland-William "Bill" E. Adkins, 84, of Fruitland died Friday, March 21, 2014, at Delmar Villas Assisted Living. Born in Indiantown, he was the son of the late John Durand Adkins and Doris Virginia Hammond Adkins.
Mr. Adkins retired from Pepsi in 1993 and then worked part time until 1997. He enjoyed meeting his buddies from Pepsi once a month for breakfast at Dayton's. He was a member of the Redmen Tony Tank Tribe 149 for over 50 years and was past Great Sachem for the state of Maryland. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Richard Adkins, and his wife, Lynn; daughter, Cammy Adkins Biser, and her husband, Tim; grandchildren, Will Adkins, Courtney Shaff and her wife, Ashley, Tyler Adkins, Tori Biser, Megan Biser and Melinda Bonniwell; great-grandchildren, Matthew Layfield, Danielle Bonniwell, Thomas Bonniwell, William White Jr., Shawn White, Heather Langville and Nicholas Parsons; great-great-grandchildren, Ayden Parsons and Cora Barton; good friend, Norris Moore; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Edna M. Adkins; daughter, Jacqueline White; and grandson, William White Sr.; two brothers, M. Thomas Adkins and Charles Adkins; and his longtime friend and coworker, Don "Griff" Griffin.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 25, at 11 a.m. at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury. The Rev. William Sterling will officiate. Interment will follow in Springhill Memory Gardens. Friends may call Monday evening from 6-8 and Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
