Ruth Matilda Watson

Crisfield-Ruth Matilda Watson, 81, of Crisfield, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 27, 2014 from Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.

Born in Crisfield on January 4, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Preston Irvin and Matilda Kathleen McCready Thomas. Her husband, John Lewis Watson, preceded her in death on December 19, 1997.

A homemaker, she was a member of the Crisfield Church of God where she was active in the Ladies Ministry. She loved babysitting her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by three children, John L. Watson, Jr. (Sherry) of Crisfield, Becky Bonneville (Mitchell) of Kingston, and David Watson of Crisfield; two granddaughters, Stephanie Vaughan (Paul Silva) of Tennessee and Stacey Swift (Russell) of Crisfield; five great-grandchildren, Jacqueline and Ethan Swift of Crisfield, and Adri, Jadon and Nathan Silva of Tennessee; four sisters, Naomi Carmine and Becky Evans of Crisfield, Presteen Thomas of Delmar, and Tillie Green of Tennessee; five brothers, James Thomas of Kingston, Phillip Thomas of Crisfield, Johnny Thomas of Parsonsburg, John Thomas of Fruitland, and Joshua Thomas of Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Sarah Ann Doyle; and four brothers, Paul, David, Buddy, and Preston Thomas.

Funeral services officiated by Rev. LeBron Palmer and Rev. Harvey Tyler will be held Monday, March 31, 2014 at 2 PM at the Crisfield Church of God. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7-9 at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
