SALISBURY-Kenneth "Kenny" Lee McGinnis, 59, of Salisbury died Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born in Salisbury he was the son of the late Kermit "Mac" and Sarah "Sally" McGinnis.
He is survived by a brother, Ronnie McGinnis and his wife Nancy of Delmar; niece Megan McGinnis of Delmar; nephews, Jeff McGinnis of Laurel, Kyle McGinnis of Delmar, Randy Parsons and his wife Janet, Brian Parsons and his wife Sue both of Salisbury; great-niece, Alana Mumford; five great-nephews, Adam McGinnis, Mason Gray, Jacob, Lucas, and Ian Parsons. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Loretta Fae Parsons.
Kenny was one of the first students of what is called Dove Pointe today. In the late 50's his parents with four other parents started a school for children with disabilities in a church basement, then they built a school on Emerson Avenue in Salisbury, and he later attended Wicomico Teen Adult Center until Dove Pointe opened.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 2PM at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Springhill Memory Gardens. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 15 at 1PM at Dove Pointe.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Kenny to Dove Pointe, 1225 Mt. Hermon Road, Salisbury, MD 21804.
